Sarah Marie Jones is a contemporary jeweller based in Melbourne/Naarm.

Each component in Sarah's 'Blobs of Longing' series, is made by press forming fine sliver into biomorphic shapes, creating hollow forms resembling blobs or pebbles that are satisfyingly smooth to touch and hold. The scrap fine silver leftover from making each hollow form is melted into granules and made into beads. The solid beads accompanied by the hollow forms, allows for a contrast in weight and texture.

Sarah's jewellery practice explores ideas connected to tactility and the sensory experience wearable objects evoke, through touch and its connection to memory. Important techniques and themes include bead making and the wearing of beads throughout history as a source of beauty, calm and contemplation through touch. Each bead works as a vessel for our memories, our love, longing and daydreaming thoughts.

We are all blobs of longing.
